This picture is of of some of our members at the Auld Shabeen in Fairfax. Not only is the Auld Shabeen one of our favorite sponsors, but in 1953, this building was a jewelry store run by Reed Everhart ("Pappy"), and this is where he founded the Jubil-Aires that year around a piano in the back room.
When you click on the "Supporters" tab at the top of the page and select "Our Sponsers", you will find a great listing of businesses, groups and individuals who have helped the Jubil-Aires with their tax exempt contributions. We encourage you to patronize the businesses that have supported their community in this way. We are also very appreciative of the grant support that we receive from Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.
The chorus also often undertakes free performances as part of our effort to give back to the community.
It takes money to provide this opportunity to sing and perform. Paying for music, risers, sound equipment and our directors (who are earning far less than minimum wage considering all the time they invest in making our efforts successful) adds up, and most of our dues go to the Barbershop Harmony Society to support their many worthwhile programs, such as the society's youth programs.
