2010 Annual Show

E-mail Print PDF
Lights! Camera! Barbershop!  The annual show in 2010 was held on Saturday, April 10. Following in the tradition of all the great annual shows that the Jubil-Aires have put on over the years, the 2010 show was no exception.

The theme was the movies, and most of the songs sung by the quartets and the chorus were from movies. The opening song was a medley of songs from the Annie movie arranged by Larry Wright.  The chorus started the song with "Let's Go To The Movies", but were interrupted by the Guest Quartet "Men In Black" who came sweeping onto the stage (or rather onto the stage sweeping) and broke into "It's a Hard Knocks Life."  They were rescued by some scrubwomen (the Sweet Adelines quartet "AKA") who broke in with "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow", and soon everyone joined in the enthusiasm before returning to "Let's Go To The Movies."  The song reached an exciting climax, and after that the chorus and quartets found themselves in the movie theater singing movie songs as pictures and trailers from the movies flashed on the screen.

The pictures tell it all.  (Just click on the "Photos" tab in the top bar and browse through the 2010 Annual Show pictures.) Receptive audiences packed the Ernst Theater at Northern Virgina Community College in Annandale for a matinee and an evening show.  The cast party ("Afterglow") at the American Legion Hall afterward capped off a great day, and everyone joined together to sing the Annie Medley once more time before calling it a night.  We can't wait for next year's show, and planning is already underway to provide excellent entertainment for everyone.  See you there!
